Overview

TPI-US works with foundations and education non-profits as well as with state education agencies to elevate the quality of teacher preparation programs, ensuring new teachers enter the classroom ready to succeed. Founded in 2013, TPI-US has conducted more than 400 program reviews across 26 states, working directly with over 1,200 educators responsible for training teachers. Through a collaborative, in-depth process that includes on-the-ground reviews, TPI-US provides actionable feedback and targeted recommendations to improve instructional content.

TPI-US envisions a system of teacher preparation where every level of leadership takes relentless ownership of their graduates’ effectiveness in the classroom and continuously evaluates their practices to ensure new teachers, and their students, are well prepared to thrive on day one.

TPI-US is seeking a Director of Development who will develop and lead its campaign to raise $8M in philanthropic funding to support its exciting growth trajectory over the next 5 years. Partnering with the CEO, the Director of Development will create and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including managing existing funder relationships and identifying potential donors.

TPI-US has a strong reputation for producing high-quality program evaluations and securing multi-year contracts and grants from both foundations and state education departments. This is a fully remote, part-time position, approximately 24 hours per week with the opportunity to become a full time employee role.

Compensation Range

$80,000 | 24-Hours Per Week

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify philanthropies where the best opportunities exist to raise support 
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders, influencers and decision makers within target organizations 
  • Maintain an active fundraising pipeline and moves management system to ensure contacts move to the proposal stage 
  • Lead the writing and submission of grant proposals 
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Business Operations to develop and submit responses to RFPs, and solidify contracts and SOWs with external partners to include the development of budgets that align with the work needs 
  • Secure opportunities to present at events to philanthropy leaders and potential partners
  • Schedule and lead quarterly grant progress updates and the creation of compliance reports

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising including grant writing, proposal development, and pipeline management 
  • Demonstrated track record of success in leading campaigns to secure significant donations from private philanthropy 
  • Passion for TPI-US’ mission and a commitment to advancing teacher preparation for literacy 
  • Detail-oriented with excellent leadership, analytical and project management skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation abilities 
  • Ability to establish and steward relationships with senior stakeholders 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team 
  • Proficiency with Google Suite; experience with Bloomerang or similar donor databases a plus
