Overview

The Secure Community Network (SCN), is the central organization dedicated exclusively to the safety, security and resiliency of the Jewish community, providing timely, credible threat and incident information to both federal and local law enforcement and community partners, in North America. SCN works with communities across North America to develop and implement strategic frameworks that enhance safety and security of the Jewish people, develops best practice policies and procedures, performs threat and vulnerability assessments, coordinates training and education, and consults on safety and security as well as provides crisis management support during critical incidents.

SCN seeks a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to oversee and ensure strategic and effective implementation of the organization’s financial operations, administrative functions (human resources, informational technology and office management) as well as ensure alignment and support to program-related investments. Working closely with the CEO, the CAO will provide financial guidance and counsel on all finance functions, business planning, budgeting, forecasting, business analysis and growth strategies and will lead the overall assessment of administrative functions (with an emphasis on human resources) to position SCN for continued growth. The CAO will play an active role in organizational planning, management and strategy implementation. Successful candidates will have experience in supervising financial and administrative functions, a strong understanding of human resources, compliance and performance management as well as hands on experience to step in and encourage innovation when warranted and provide support when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the creation and development of the organizational annual budget, as well as forecasting strategic growth strategies, business planning and future opportunities
  • Lead and oversee all budget and financial operations including accounting, insurance, tax and annual audit activities
  • Assess current operational structures and implement recommendations for alignment, expansion and improvement in human resources, finance and program-investments to increase efficiencies, maintain internal controls and ensure appropriate compliance
  • Review current contracts and agreements (in coordination with the General Counsel) to ensure scalability, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Create and oversee a comprehensive human resources plan including policy review and development, performance management plan and evaluation to encourage team member growth, as well as organizational development strategies and initiatives
  • Assess and supervise professional teams, providing leadership, mentorship, and establish KPIs for departments
  • Promote innovation throughout the organization, providing support to processes to ensure successful operational performance and mission alignment

Qualifications & Skills

  • Advanced degree in business administration or related field
  • 8+ years in senior level operations and/or finance management (prior CAO experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity 
  • Ability to serve as a thought partner and counsel to CEO
  • Experience working with a board of directors
  • Ability to oversee as well as implement finance functions across all disciplines
  • Advanced understanding and experience in HR policies and regulations, performance management and supervision
  • Experience managing organizational administrative functions (IT and operations)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment as well as lead and manage teams
  • Ability to mentor and inspire professionals and team members
  • High level of comfort working with business technology
  • Desire to serve community
