Overview

The word shema comes from the Hebrew word “to hear,” a concept that guides everything Project Shema does. Listening with curiosity and compassion is at the center of their relational engagement approach, providing a truly unique, nuanced approach to antisemitism education for those working to ensure inclusive spaces for everyone. Since its founding, Project Shema has supported institutions across the country to address contemporary antisemitism, with an emphasis on how anti-Jewish ideas can emerge in progressive spaces and in discourse around Israel and Palestine. Founded by Jewish leaders with deep ties in social justice movements, Project Shema brings a fresh approach to these challenging issues.

The Vice President of Development will serve as the driver of Project Shema’s $6M fundraising strategy, leading the execution of a comprehensive development program and supporting and enhancing the organization’s philanthropic fundraising strategy. The VP will be responsible for building an individual giving program and creating the systems and infrastructure necessary to sustain long-term success and contributing to the growth of the organization’s institutional fundraising strategy.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned fundraiser with a deep commitment to progressive values. They will be both a strategist and a builder who combines vision with execution and leads with transparency, empathy, and collaboration.
