Overview

For more than 70 years, the Peninsula Jewish Community Center (PJCC) has worked to inspire a sense of community in San Mateo County, with over 37,000 Jewish residents. Situated between San Francisco and Palo Alto, the PJCC is among the top 10 JCCs in North America. With a 12-acre home in Foster City, the PJCC’s goal is to provide programs and services that reinforce the values and traditions the Jewish community embraces, while also serving the broader community.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee, direct, and implement all aspects of the PJCC’s financial functionality. Reporting directly to the CEO, this senior managerial position will join a growing, transformational leadership team. The CFO will meaningfully contribute to the organization’s sustainability, community impact, and future direction. 

A successful candidate will demonstrate sophisticated business acumen, strong supervisory skills, and a successful track record of administering the financial inner workings of comparably large and complex institutions.

Compensation Range

$200-$225K DOE

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, measure, and assure strong execution of all financial systems, processes, and reporting
  • Manage finance, IT, CRM and facility departments, staff, and functions
  • Generate quarterly consolidated financial statements and present to finance committee and board
  • Develop financial management analysis and tools to provide perspective on maximizing revenue and monitoring expenditures
  • Work with department heads through the budget development process, identifying opportunities to leverage revenue, grow business lines, and control costs
  • Coordinate with fundraising staff as appropriate to support financial needs
  • Oversee implementation of and ensure compliance and ongoing review of financial control policies
  • Provide oversight of cash flow; develop monthly reports for rolling 12-month periods
  • Staff the finance, audit, and investment committees
  • Represent the PJCC with financial partners including banks, auditors, insurance, and investment managers
  • Work with auditors to oversee and complete audit and tax filings

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • 7+ years of professional experience in financial roles 
  • Demonstrated success with financial oversight in complex organizations
  • Effective and timely executive decision-making skills 
  • Significant supervisory experience; ability to provide timely feedback to supervisees 
  • Ability to think strategically and exercise sound judgment 
  • Clear and persuasive verbal and written communication skills; sophisticated interpersonal skills 
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks 
  • Aptitude for identifying innovative and creative approaches to financial challenges and revenue growth opportunities 
  • Experience developing qualitative and quantitative measures to track impact 
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite; Salesforce experience a plus 
  • Willingness to work primarily in-office as well as some nights and weekends
