The Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County (JFPBC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming, inspiring, and saving lives in the Palm Beaches and 70 countries around the world.. Each year, Jewish Federation inspires thousands of community members to contribute, volunteer, and participate in programs that generate more than $50 million leading to a powerful impact in the community. The Mandel JCC builds community and enhances connections to Jewish life through its wide array of programs.

JFPBC and the Mandel JCC seek a Director of Development (DOD) to collaborate with JCC and Federation professionals and lay leaders to drive philanthropic growth for the JCC in the greater Palm Beaches. Working closely with the JCC CEO, the ideal candidate will apply relationship-based solicitation strategies to foster connections with new donors, nurture existing relationships as well as advise and partner with the JCC CEO to fulfill fundraising goals. In partnership with colleagues and volunteers, the Director will create personalized solicitation strategies, stewardship plans, and ambassador assignments for top-tier donors. This integral role also works closely with JCC program staff to secure corporate sponsorships designated for key agency initiatives and is supervised by the Federation.

Compensation Range

$100,000 - $110,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, cultivate and solicit new donors (individual, corporate, foundation) to expand JCC’s philanthropic base
  • Formulate comprehensive fundraising strategies including donor recognition programs, major donor cultivation, grants, and community outreach
  • Collaborate and support the JCC CEO on all development activities; support leaders and ambassadors managing $1,000+ donor relationships and provide professional support to the JCC Development Committee
  • Partner with JCC program staff to identify and implement fundraising and sponsorship opportunities 
  • Provide development operations support and liaise with the JCC and Federation finance teams on gift processing, communications, development revenue, budgeting, reforecasting, tracking  and reporting
  • Oversee the Corporate Relations contractor to engage corporate sponsors and partner with Grants Manager to maximize funding opportunities
  • Engage in strategic long-term planning for capital and endowment development for growth for the JCC
  • Work with Federation’s Campaign team to integrate comprehensive donor solicitation plans and strategies

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years experience in fundraising, or relevant skills required
  • Proactive, adaptable, and a self-starter
  • Analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking abilities
  • Varied solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop excellent relationships with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail; able to organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of business technology, fundraising databases and data analysis skills required
  • Passion for the Jewish community, Israel, and familiarity with Jewish calendar and lifecycle
