The Jewish Federation of San Antonio (JFSA) is dedicated to building a stronger, more connected Jewish future by supporting local and Israeli programs through philanthropy and community engagement. JFSA helps newcomers find their place, develops young leaders and philanthropists, and strengthens Jewish identity through education and connection to Israel.

JFSA is hiring a Director of Development, a member of the Leadership team, to be responsible for leading all aspects of JFSA’s fundraising strategy and goal of $2M including annual campaign, corporate partnerships, and other key funding initiatives. This role plays a pivotal part in cultivating donor relationships, fostering a donor-centered culture, and achieving meaningful financial support for Federation, The Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio and other community priorities. With a strong base of community donors and a potential $40–$50 million capital campaign on the horizon, JFSA is looking for a strategic thought partner for the CEO and lay leadership.  Successful candidates will bring senior development experience, familiarity with Jewish communal life and values, and a passion for building strong donor relationships.

Compensation Range

$95,000 - $110,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, encompassing annual and supplemental giving, corporate support, capital campaigns, legacy giving and grants
  • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of major donors; lead key solicitations and donor engagement efforts
  • Create and adhere to the development budget
  • Recruit, supervise and inspire a dynamic development team and volunteers
  • Supervise the contract grant writer in researching and identifying grant opportunities, preparing and submitting applications, and managing the receipt and expenditure of awarded grants
  • Ensure effective use and oversight of the CRM donor database; maintain accurate records and analytics
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on donor communications and represent the Federation at community and fundraising events
  • Monitor and evaluate development goals and ensure measurable outcomes aligned with the Federation’s mission
  • Represent the Federation at community-wide and organizational fundraising events

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years in resource development, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven success in major gift solicitation and strategic fundraising
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to inspire and engage
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams and managing complex projects with measurable outcomes
  • Skilled at managing professional and volunteer relationships
  • Committed to Jewish values with knowledge of Jewish traditions, Israel, and the Jewish lifecycle
  • Familiarity with donor databases, fundraising technology, and budget management
  • Grant writing experience preferred
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
