Friends of Yad Sarah is a U.S.-based nonprofit that raises funds and awareness in support of Yad Sarah, Israel’s largest volunteer-led organization providing compassionate health and home care support services. Through a network of 120+ branches and more than 7,000 volunteers, Yad Sarah serves over one million people annually, helping individuals of all ages live with dignity, independence, and improved quality of life.

Friends of Yad Sarah is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, with a focus on securing major gifts in support of the organization’s mission. This role will develop and implement personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies, ensuring donors remain engaged and connected to the impact of their giving. Friends of Yad Sarah raises between $5–$10 million annually, and the Major Gifts Officer will be instrumental in driving continued growth and donor engagement. Through strategic networking, prospect research, and consistent communication, this individual will help expand the organization’s base of philanthropic support. The successful candidate will be a creative and motivated self-starter with strong experience in donor cultivation and relationship management. Ideally, the candidate will bring at least five years of direct fundraising experience with a demonstrated ability to secure major gifts. Regular regional travel is expected.

Compensation Range

$125,000 - $150,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Executive Director to develop and execute personalized fundraising strategies 
  • Create and implement strategic development plans to deepen donor engagement and support
  • Manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors at various giving levels, with a focus on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Maintain and regularly update donor information, interactions, and engagement activity in the CRM database
  • Oversee systems for tracking and advancing donor prospects through the cultivation pipeline
  • Assist the Executive Director in gathering program statistics, budget updates, and other relevant information from the Israel office to inform donor communications
  • Plan and manage stewardship efforts to ensure donors remain informed, appreciated, and connected to the organization’s impact
  • Monitor and track legacy gifts in the pipeline to support financial planning and forecasting

Qualifications & Skills

  • Passion for and alignment with the mission and vision of Friends of Yad Sarah
  • 5+ years of nonprofit development experience, ideally within social service,  Jewish community or Israel-related organizations
  • Professional, resourceful, and entrepreneurial 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to take initiative and develop effective strategies for donor cultivation and pipeline growth
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management systems
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency with Hebrew language is a plus
