Overview

The Reaumond Foundation was established on October 26, 2018, one year after the passing of Robert Reaumond due to pancreatic cancer. The foundation was formed to provide research grants to doctors and comprehensive cancer centers focused on cutting edge research to combat the effects of the third leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States. Additionally, The Reaumond Foundation was established to provide financial assistance to families recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, as the financial and emotional burden can be overwhelming.

The Reaumond Foundation seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic Director of Strategy and Innovation to advance the mission and drive future success by managing and growing a $500k+ annual fundraising campaign toward a goal of $1M+. The Director of Strategy and Innovation will serve as the key professional leader of The Reaumond Foundation and will report to the President of the Board of Directors. This individual will be charged with cultivating donor relationships, advancing fundraising, developing the Foundation’s endowment and managing its board and committees. The Director of Strategy and Innovation will also provide executive oversight and strategic direction to all Foundation programs and initiatives, in accordance with the organization’s mission and strategic plan. The ideal candidate is a professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit management who is both driven and passionate about growing the organization and its mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement the day-to-day operations of the Foundation, including all programs, events, initiatives, board communications and annual budget preparation
  • Execute strategies for fund development through individual giving, endowment development and corporate partnerships; ensure effective donor cultivation, stewardship and recognition
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Board of Directors, engaging board members in the Foundation’s work, leveraging board member talents and networks, and offering board development opportunities
  • Oversee all Foundation communications, community outreach efforts, marketing and messaging development, and social media presence
  • Utilize the Foundation’s special events programming, board meetings and key initiatives as opportunities to build and strengthen strategic relationships
  • Enhance the image of the Foundation with active and visible participation in the community and working closely with professional, civic and private organizations and leaders
  • Ensure Foundation adherence to all policies/disclosures set by IRS regulations
  • Hire, manage and retain all future team members and staff

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of experience working in the foundation/nonprofit sector
  • Ability to motivate board members and volunteers to cultivate, steward and solicit donors within their networks
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations, comfortable soliciting gifts of $5,000+
  • Experience and comfort working with high-level donors, and philanthropists
  • Knowledge of the Chicago philanthropic community; familiarity with the pancreatic cancer community a plus
  • Strong budgeting skills including the creation and management of a budget
  • Passion for The Reaumond Foundation’s mission and ability to promote and communicate the mission to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to lead growth and create structure
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change
  • Goal-oriented and strategic with strong multi-tasking and follow-through skills
  • High level of comfort working with data, business technology and social media platforms
