Overview

The Chicago Center strives to support every Jew on any and every day of their life. Their pillars are Torah, Chesed, and Refuah, which encompass the various aspects of Jewish life and combine the strength of many different community resources to provide a wide range of services.

The Chicago Center recently purchased a 26,000 sq. foot medical building on the north side of Chicago, that will become the Midwest Refuah Health Center and will fill the unique health and wellness gaps of the Jewish Community. The mission is to ensure that the Jewish Chicagoland community receives a high level of medical, mental, and dental healthcare.

The Midwest Refuah Health Center (MRHC) is seeking a Director of Development to plan and implement all fundraising efforts, including capital and major gifts campaigns. The Director will cultivate, steward, and oversee donor relationships; design and implement creative and innovative fundraising strategies; adhere to fundraising schedules; oversee budgets; meet with individuals, corporations, and foundations to solicit funds; and attain detailed knowledge of the Jewish community and philanthropic trends.

Reporting to the CEO and working extensively in partnership with the COO, the Director will be detail-oriented, visionary, dedicated to creating connections with donors and volunteers, understand the realities of today’s fundraising climate, and be passionate about strengthening healthcare in the Jewish community.

Compensation Range

$130,000-$150,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising program and oversee all fundraising efforts to include annual giving, major gifts, and capital initiatives  
  • Cultivate, steward, and oversee donor relationships
  • Design and implement creative and innovative fundraising strategies; adhere to fundraising schedules and goals
  • Write and prepare materials needed for development-related communications including newsletters, e-mail, appeals and campaign material, donor recognition, pledge reminders, proposals, and reports
  • Manage the donor database and work collaboratively with the COO and CFO to ensure accurate fundraising records and reports
  • Meet with individuals, corporations, and foundations to solicit funds
  • Attain detailed knowledge of the Jewish community and philanthropic trends
  • Identify grant opportunities; liaise with local and national corporate and foundation prospects/donors, including prospect research, grant writing and reporting, and relationship management
  • Identify facility and programmatic sponsorship and naming opportunities

Qualifications & Skills

  • 2+ years’ experience in annual campaign planning, donor cultivation and stewardship  
  • Previous strategic planning, database management and budgeting highly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in soliciting gifts from individual donors, foundations, and corporations
  • Previous success with major campaigns; capital campaign experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and follow-up
  • Comfort with data management software and online fundraising tools
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and leadership skills
  • A strong belief in the value and importance of philanthropy and the ability to foster a strong culture of giving
  • A strong commitment to Jewish communal life and institutions with a passion for strengthening healthcare in the Jewish  community
  • An independent, strategic thinker who exhibits good judgment
  • Must demonstrate initiative, creativity, visioning with the ability to work independently while fostering a team environment
