Development Director

Bulamu Healthcare

|

Remote (Anywhere in the US)

Overview

Bulamu Healthcare is a U.S. and Uganda-registered non-profit organization, founded in 2016 with the mission "To treat the sick and strengthen health systems serving African patients most in need." Today, Bulamu's work focuses on improving maternity, newborn, and surgical patient care at scale in cost-effective, results-oriented ways. Since 2016, Bulamu’s teams of licensed Ugandan surgeons, doctors, nurses, and staff have treated 300,000+ patients directly, including 10,000+ surgery patients. In under 7 years, Bulamu's annual budget has grown from $100,000 to $1.7 million per year and is more than 50% funded through multi-year pledges. Uganda’s Ministry of Health (MOH) is now beginning to adopt Bulamu’s health systems for national scale, and we have active partnerships with 346 partner health facilities in 12 Ugandan counties that contain 17% of the country's population. Bulamu’s model is to treat patients directly and then provide support systems to partner health facilities, with a focus on improving Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and access to surgery for African patients.

Bulamu seeks an inaugural Development Director with emphasis on discovering and developing new relationships and funding partnerships. The Development Director will create and implement a comprehensive national plan to sustain and grow a $1.7 million operating budget. Reporting to the CEO, the Development Director will lead Bulamu’s emergent growth in both fundraising and community impact. An ideal candidate is a strategic, entrepreneurial, and collaborative development generalist with a passion for improving maternal and newborn healthcare in African communities.

Bulamu Healthcare is an equal-opportunity employer.
