Overview

Jordan River Village is Israel’s only free, year-round, medically safe camp for all children living with serious medical conditions and disabilities. The Village has been providing healing camp programs for 10 years to more than 24,000 sick children of every ethnic, religious, and socio-economic group.

AFJRV is seeking a motivated and dynamic Executive Director with extensive experience in major gifts fundraising and management. A strong candidate will possess the ability to recruit, sustain, educate, engage, and empower donors to take on leadership roles and expand the organization's fundraising efforts. The Executive Director will be responsible for guiding AFJRV toward sustainable organizational growth, implementing best marketing practices, and establishing clear planning with measurable fundraising goals. This position is fully remote with travel expected up to 30% of the time depending on location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop annual budget, fundraising strategies, and long-term strategic planning while leading short-term goal setting
  • Lead all aspects of annual fundraising campaign, including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of relationships with diverse donors and prospects
  • Collaborate with Israeli Village to create proposals, budgets, timelines, and grant reports for foundations, federations, and donor-advised funds
  • Oversee the financial health and sustainability of AFJRV
  • Conceptualize, plan, staff all fundraising events; proactively follow up with attendees and prospective donors
  • Coordinate visits to Israel for donors, organizations, and tour groups
  • Oversee board governance and facilitate engagement with future leaders
  • Build trusting relationships with current and former board members
  • Identify, recruit, and train new board members to ensure succession in leadership for AFJRV
  • Manage social media, oversee video content creation, and build relationships with journalists and organizations that can promote the work of AFJRV
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and maintain internal transparency while adhering to all legal requirements
  • Foster strong working relationships with Israeli Village and SeriousFun Children's Network professionals and lay leaders

Qualifications & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in nonprofits and fundraising
  • Successful track record of soliciting and closing six-figure major gifts
  • Experience working with and mobilizing Boards and volunteer committees
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and rapport with key stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills
  • Strong financial management background, including budget preparation, analysis, and reporting
  • Experience working with partner organizations in Israel a plus
  • Passion and commitment to goals and mission of AFJRV
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, and effectively lead a team
  • High level of comfort with business technology, experience with Little Green Light a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with partners across different locations
  • Willingness to travel as needed
